Book 2—The Virtual Virgin
Marcus Long is a widower and the father of fraternal twins. After a period of unemployment, his luck seems to finally improve. Marcus has landed a job working on the construction of a gargantuan space station at the farthest edge of Galactic Alliance space, and he and the twins are on their way there in a state-of-the-art luxury starship. At least, that is, until an onboard terrorist explosion forces the ship’s crew and passengers to abandon ship, and their escape pod crashes on the independent planet of Arcadia 10. The Long family, bonded by the love they share for one another, has for several years, consisted of just the three of them, but soon after the crash a beautiful, captivating BUT exceedingly ornery woman, a slave of the local tavern owner’s, finds her way into their life and hearts.
Thera Phoenix has never known a life other than that of a slave, forced to dance and prostitute herself at a local tavern for the profit of her heartless owner. She neither asks nor expects anyone’s help, yet finds Marcus doing just that at every turn, even to the point of marrying her in order to save her life. Thera cannot comprehend why Marcus unselfishly helps her and becomes her protector. He shows her nothing but respect and kindness, but is that enough for either of them or for the meddling twins?
Thera finds herself developing intense feelings for Marcus, constantly questioning how they could ever have a future together. She was a stripper, a prostitute, simply property.
As their story unfolds, the newly expanded Long family’s simple goal is to earn enough credits to continue the trip to the Magellan Outpost, begin his job and allow Thera to leave behind her life of slavery. Fate does not allow them this luxury, for soon they are thrust into the position of thwarting a Terrilian plot to create a bio-engineered weapon capable of eradicating the human race from the known universe.
Will Marcus and Thera stop the Terrilian threat in time? Will they be able to conquer their personal demons? Will they be able to trust that redemption, faithfulness and yes, even destiny will allow their love for one another to flourish?
